Renaissance Academy Students Excel on State Test

To the Renaissance Academy Community,

Congratulations are in order for all Renaissance Academy students and staff in light of our school’s outstanding academic performance during the 2005-06 school year. Our API score of 773 is even better than last year’s high score and once again places our school among the top ten of all LAUSD high schools. We also exceeded the State of California’s growth target for our school by a substantial margin.

This is quite an accomplishment given the challenges we faced throughout the year. I would like to personally thank all of our teachers who persevered and stayed focused on our school’s mission despite the many trials and tribulations. I would also like to thank the Renaissance Academy Board and the many parent volunteers whose tireless efforts made it possible to survive the year.

Renaissance Academy’s excellent performance is both heartening and heartbreaking because we are being denied the opportunity to continue the excellent work we have begun. We continue to work toward reopening the school and are hopeful that our efforts will be successful. In the meantime, we are maintaining a small volunteer staff providing transcripts and assisting families with other needs.

In closing, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the students of Renaissance Academy. Their spirit and enthusiasm was inspirational. I wish them the best in all of their future endeavors.
